Our Process
Estate Jewelry Exchange USA provides a private, appointment-only process for reviewing estate jewelry collections. This page explains what to expect, how evaluations are scheduled, and how we determine next steps after a review.
The goal of our process is clarity. Estate jewelry is often handled during inheritance, downsizing, relocation, or estate administration, and clients frequently want a discreet alternative to public estate sales, auctions, or open retail environments.
Step 1: Start With a Request
The process begins when you request an evaluation. Many clients use the website form because it allows photo uploads and provides helpful context in advance. If you prefer not to use the form, you may call or text to ask general questions or request assistance with scheduling.
When appropriate, we may ask a few basic questions about your collection so we can determine the best next step and the most suitable evaluation type.
Step 2: Choose the Evaluation Type
Evaluations are scheduled by appointment only. Depending on your situation, evaluations may be arranged in one of two ways:
- In-office appointment: A private office evaluation scheduled in advance.
- On-site estate visit: May be available when travel is difficult or collections are larger.
Appointment availability may vary. A request is not confirmed until scheduling is communicated and confirmed.
Step 3: Prepare Your Collection
You do not need specialized knowledge to prepare for an evaluation. The most helpful step is gathering jewelry together as a collection when possible. If you have original boxes, paperwork, or background information, you may bring it, but it is not required.
If photos are used for intake, clear images on a simple background are most helpful. When possible, include front and back views, and close-ups of any markings or signatures.
Step 4: Private Evaluation and Review
During the evaluation, jewelry is reviewed as a collection rather than through casual walk-in assessments or on-the-spot pricing. This approach supports a more consistent and responsible review process.
Evaluations reflect Estate Jewelry Exchange USA’s professional assessment and current market conditions at the time of review. Not all items or collections qualify.
Step 5: Outcomes and Next Steps
After an evaluation, outcomes may include:
- Offer may be made: If the collection is determined to be a fit, an offer may be made based on our assessment and current market conditions.
- Declined for suitability: Some items or collections may not qualify for our process and may be declined.
- Case-by-case guidance: Depending on what is presented, we may suggest a more appropriate next step for certain items.
There is no obligation to proceed following an evaluation, and offers (when made) reflect conditions at the time of review.
Additional Estate Items (Case by Case)
Some clients bring additional estate items alongside jewelry. When these items are included with a jewelry collection, they may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis during the evaluation. Acceptance and suitability depend on the overall collection and current market conditions.
Request an Evaluation
If you are ready to begin, the next step is to request an appointment-only evaluation. You may choose an in-office appointment or request an on-site estate visit depending on your situation.
